Take Two Day 2: Flag nails

Yarr! Greetings land lubbers. Ye've likely found that I be a wee bit silly. Uh. Urghh. Uh hem. Yes.. so, I am a bit silly. I don't take things too seriously. I wasn't overly inspired by any world flags, so instead I picked my favourite flag. The PIRATE FLAG!

I really like how this turned out. For my pointer, middle and pinkie I used a scratch technique by Lindsey from Neverland Nail Blog. Here's her tutorial!

Basically, I painted those fingers with China Glaze White On White, top coated, and let them dry completely. I then did each nail one by one: a medium coat of China Glaze Adventure Red-y, wait 30 seconds, a coat of A England Camelot. Then I took a piece of card with an edge I'd cut into "teeth" and scraped the red and black off. I let it dry for about 10 minutes to prevent smudging and then topped with two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out.

I really like the effect. I had in my mind that it's a bit like ripped black fabric, but really it's just cool. And I love the red peaking through! It makes the whole thing just touch more sinister.

For my pirate logo I painted the design on using white fluid acrylic paint and a tiny brush. Topped with Seche for the awesome. Very happy! I would totally wear this for a few days if I could.

I drank bubbly and decorated my tree today. I really love tree decorating day. We always have drinks, snacks, christmas music and yelling at cats. Good times.

Make sure you check out all the other great flag nails below!
